The Outer Banks officially has a live food truck tracker. TruckTrackr — the app that shows you exactly where food trucks are serving right now — is expanding to OBX, covering the full stretch from Corolla down through Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Manteo and Roanoke Island, and on down Hatteras Island through Rodanthe, Avon, Buxton and Frisco.
If you've ever driven the Beach Road wondering whether that taco truck you loved last summer is out today — this is for you.
Why the Outer Banks?
Few places are better suited to food trucks than the Outer Banks. It's a hundred miles of beach towns, soundside parks, breweries, campgrounds and event lawns — and a population that swells with hungry visitors every season. Trucks move constantly to follow the crowds, which is exactly the problem TruckTrackr solves.
Instead of digging through social media posts to figure out who's parked where, you open one map and see every truck that's serving today, where they are, what time they close, and what's on the menu.
How it works for hungry locals and visitors
- Open the Outer Banks food truck page — it shows who's serving in OBX today and what's coming up this week.
- Check the live map — every truck that posts a stop shows up as a pin with hours, menu and one-tap directions.
- Follow your favorites — get a notification the moment your favorite truck posts its next stop, so you never miss it.
No account needed to browse. It works in any browser, and the TruckTrackr app on the App Store and Google Play adds notifications and a faster map.
Own a food truck in OBX? The first five get Pro free — for life
To kick off the Outer Banks launch, the first five food trucks that sign up with an OBX home base get TruckTrackr Pro free, forever. That's not a trial — it's a founding-truck thank-you that never expires.
Pro includes:
- A live map pin customers can find the moment you post a stop
- Weekly schedule posting — post once, your whole week is out there
- Follower notifications — every follower gets pinged when you post
- A full public profile with menu, photos, hours and links
- Marketing tools — printable flyers and QR codes built from your profile
- Catering and event leads from people booking trucks in your area
Meet the first founding trucks
Two of the five founding spots are already claimed:
- Seabreeze Squeeze — Founding Truck #1. Fresh-squeezed lemonade from a one-of-a-kind vintage trailer (look for the rubber ducks). Find them soundside in Nags Head at 6800 S Croatan Hwy.
- Banana Dog Cafe — Founding Truck #2. Posted up at their regular spot at 1196 Ocean Trail in Corolla.
Three founding spots remain. Qualifying is simple: sign up as an owner and set your home base anywhere in the Outer Banks — Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Manteo, Wanchese, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco or Hatteras. If one of the five founding spots is still open, it's yours automatically — you'll see it the moment you create your account.
You can watch the remaining founding spots counter on the Outer Banks page.
What's covered
TruckTrackr's OBX region runs the full barrier island chain:
- Northern beaches: Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores
- Central beaches: Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head
- Roanoke Island: Manteo and Wanchese
- Hatteras Island: Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Village
Trucks based anywhere in this stretch — or trucks that travel in for events — show up on the same live map the moment they post a stop.
Planning an event on the beach?
Weddings, corporate retreats, surf contests, family reunions — the Outer Banks runs on events, and food trucks are the easiest catering there is. TruckTrackr's request-a-truck tool sends your event details to available local trucks with one form, and they come back to you with quotes.
